Hydraulic Lift Cylinders for Snow Plows

Snowplows are often seen with their blades aimed directly in front of the bumper, just mere centimeters off of the ground. The truth is, these armatures are mobile and can be raised and lowered at will. For a pneumatic or hydraulic snowplow, the lift cylinder is what converts the respective gas or fluid pressure of the system to either raise or lower the blade. Controllable blade movement aids in effective clearing of the snow and also is required for the truck’s mobility, which can be limited by the plow. Think of an office chair. That little lever on the base center post causes the seat part to rise or sink--when it’s functional, of course. Inside the base is a small pneumatic lift cylinder. If that cylinder is damaged or worn and loses internal pressure, the chair remains stuck in a sunken position until the cylinder can be replaced. The same applies for the lift cylinders on a snow plow. To ensure that your snowplow’s pneumatic or hydraulic lift system is operating at full functionality, inspect the lift cylinders and, if necessary, replace with brand new lift cylinders from Discount Starter & Alternator.

Discount Starter & Alternator sells replacement lift cylinders and cylinder kits for popular snowplow models by Boss, Fisher, Meyer, Western, and more.
