Alternators for New Holland Agricultural & Farm Equipment

The New Holland Machine Company was founded in New Holland, PA in 1895. It started life as a horse barn and blacksmith shop until founder Abram Zimmerman started selling the Pennsylvania-built German Otto 1 cylinder four-stroke engine as part of his business. After selling a variety of large stationary engines out of his shop, Zimmerman took it upon himself to design his very own engine; one that would be lighter, more durable, more reliable, easier to operate and repair. Zimmerman created the “Freeze Proof” engine, which was designed to operate in the harsh, cold environments of northeastern American Winters. The “Freeze Proof” engine was a success and as a result, the New Holland Machine Company was born. The New Holland Machine Company started designing their own machines such as feed grinders, rock crushers, and wood saws. In 1947, the New Holland Machine Company was purchased by the Sperry Corporation. As Sperry-New Holland, the company entered the agricultural market by producing a revolutionary type of hay harvesting machine called the Haybine Mower-Conditioner. Sperry-New Holland built harvesters and combines until Ford purchased Sperry-New Holland in 1986, which saw the introduction of Ford-designed tractors enter their product lineup. In 1991, the company was purchased by Italian manufacturer Fiat’s agricultural division.
