Alternators for Kia Vehicles

In December 1944, South Korean steel company Kyungsung Precision Industry was formed initially, as a bicycle maker. They are credited with producing Korea’s first domestic bicycle, the Samchully, which debuted in 1951. A year later, Kyungsung Precision Industry changed their name to Kia and, through partnerships with Japanese manufacturers Honda and Mazda, built various vehicles ranging from motorcycles to trucks and cars. Kia assembled two other foreign models for Fiat and Peugeot but in 1981, introduced their first independent effort, the Brisa series of cars. Shortly after, the company was forced into mandatory shutdown by South Korean military dictator Chun Doo-hwan’s imposed industry consolidation. Kia returned to production in 1986, building Mazda-sourced cars for the South Korean public and for export into other countries. Kia arrived in America in 1992 and in 1994, developed their sales plan of selling regionally with the first batch of Kia brand cars being sold only in 4 dealerships throughout Portland, Oregon. Within a year, Kia made record sales and expanded into 30 states. However, the Asian financial crisis put Kia into bankruptcy in 1997. In 1998, Hyundai Motor Company took the dying company under their wing and both companies divested ownership of each other, ensuring the survival of both brands. Around this time, Hyundai’s brand reinvention was already underway and their efforts spilled over to Kia. As Hyundai hired more and more personnel that were being jettisoned by BMW, Volkswagen, General Motors, and Mercedes-Benz, Kia also benefited. Thanks to the design team of Peter Schreyer (of Audi TT fame) and Luc Donckerwolke (former design director of Volkswagen AG’s Bentley, Lamborghini, and Audi brands) and the recent addition of former BMW M Sport guru Albert Biermann, Kia now joins Hyundai atop the highest positions for initial quality by J.D. Powers & Associates and continues to impress buyers with their stylish, fun-to-drive, yet affordable cars. Kia’s range includes the full-size Cadenza, midsize Optima, the Soul compact crossover, Sportage and Sorento SUVs, Sedona minivan, the Rio and Forte compacts, and their new full-size executive halo car, the K900. 2017 will see Kia’s first sports/performance-focused sedan, the Stinger.
