Alternators for Nissan Automobiles

Long before the world met the technological marvel known as the GT-R, the company known today as Nissan was born in 1911 as Kaishinsha Motor Car Works.  Their first car, unveiled in 1914, was called the DAT, named after the three company investors Kenjiro Den, Rokuro Aoyama, and Meitaro Takeuchi.  In 1925, Kaisinsha was renamed DAT Motors, building mainly trucks and a small limited output of passenger cars.  1931 introduced the Datsun Type 11, a new small car from DAT Motors, and also the first automobile to wear the Datsun name (meaning “Son of DAT”).  The Nissan brand name, originating from a DAT holding company, was applied in 1937 after William R. Gorham, an American engineer from Datsun’s agricultural subsidiary Kubota, was brought into the company to update Datsun’s production lines with American autobuilding technology.  After entering contracts to build vehicles under license from England’s Austin Motor Company and a corporate merger with fellow Japanese automaker Prince Motor Company, Nissan expanded their efforts worldwide, taking the Datsun small car line to the United States.  They formed a subsidiary in the United States called Nissan Motor Corporation USA in 1960 and by 1970, Nissan became one of the world’s largest automobile exporters.  The famous Datsun compact pickup truck, 240Z sports car, and Fairlady roadsters became popular choices for new car buyers in the wake of the 1973 oil crisis.  In 1980, Nissan built their first American production plant in Smyrna, Tennessee.  This factory would go on to produce Nissan’s volume-leading vehicles including the Altima, Maxima, Pathfinder SUV, and the Leaf electric-car.  In 1989, Nissan launched the Infiniti sub-brand to cash in on the success of Japanese-made luxury cars spearheaded by Honda’s new Acura marque and Toyota’s Lexus division.  Now, allied with France’s Renault, Nissan looks to continue to stretch their global reach and introduce new car lines with unforeseen advancements in technology, as well as building up their electric car program.
