Choke Cable for ATVs & UTVs

Carbureted engines use a choke valve to restrict airflow during startup. The reason for this is because small droplets of fuel have difficulty evaporating into vapor when inside a cold engine. To create a richer (more fuel, less air) mixture to help initiate the cold start, the choke valve closes off the flow of air into the carburetor. Once the engine has warmed and is up to proper operating temperature, the choke can be released and more air can be directed into the carburetor throat for clean, efficient combustion.

Some carburetors, such as automotive applications in passenger cars and trucks, used an automatic choke that was controlled by a temperature-sensitive solenoid before carburetors were phased out in favor of fuel injection. Prior to that, carburetors had manual chokes that were activated by the driver VIA an organ-style pull or a lever. Small engines that still use carburetors have manual chokes that are either push button or lever-actuated (as in lawn mowers) or by way of a pull cable as in the case of motorcycles, ATVs, and UTVs that use naturally-aspirated engines. Always inspect the condition of your choke cable to ensure that cold starts initiate without problem. If your ATV or UTV has a worn choke cable or if the cable is completely demolished, Discount Starter & Alternator stocks a wide assortment of aftermarket replacement manual choke cables by Bronco ATV. We are a retailer of Bronco ATV components and our online inventory houses brand new, aftermarket ATV/UTV choke cables that meet or exceed OEM specifications. Cables are made from tempered steel with an inner nylon sleeve for durability and extended life.
