Starters for Thermo King Temperature Control Systems & Refrigeration Units

Thermo King was born in 1938, when inventor Frederick McKinley Jones and Joseph Numero acquired the patent for the first mobile refrigeration unit called the “Model A”. This was a revolutionary invention as it allowed for all of the modern conveniences of frozen foods that we know today. Mobile refrigeration compressors ran on petrol engines and and stationary refrigeration compressors driven by grid-sourced electricity. Thermo King made it possible to transport perishable items across long distances without having them spoil. This was a benefit for supermarkets, the restaurant industry, for farmers and then straight down to the consumer. In 1940, Thermo King developed the first refrigerated boxcars for trains and in 1958, introduced diesel-powered refrigeration compressors as a more durable and longer-lasting alternative to the petrol engines. In 1997, Thermo King was purchased from Westinghouse to new owners Ingersoll Rand. Today, Thermo King is part of Ingersoll Rand’s Climate Solutions brand.
