Alternators for Mazda Automobiles

To Zoroastrians. Ahura Mazda is the name of God but to auto enthusiasts, especially those who prefer the import and JDM (Japanese Domestic Market) scenes, Mazda is a Japanese automaker that specializes in compact, fun-to-drive cars.  Mazda was founded in 1920 as Toyo Cork Kogyo Co., Ltd. in Hiroshima, Japan.  The company started by manufacturing machine tools but then introduced the Mazda-Go autorickshaw, a 3-wheeled motorized cart, in 1931.  Mazda followed up the autorickshaw with their first real car, the compact R360 kei car (city car), in 1960.  Inspired by the German NSU Ro 80, Mazda focused their efforts on developing an engine that would separate them from the other Japanese automakers.  They chose the Wankel rotary engine and together with NSU, began to promote the engine through the 1967 Cosmo Sport.  The Wankel engine brought Mazda some notoriety and other manufacturers such as Citroen and General Motors began jumping on the bandwagon.  However, the rotary engine’s popularity died just as quickly as it arrived.  Manufacturers were abandoning their engine programs left and right in favor of the more conventional piston-type internal combustion engine, leaving Mazda as the lone producer of automotive-spec rotary engines.  In 1970, Mazda arrived on American shores with their rotary-powered B-Series compact pickup truck.  While Mazda pioneered automotive rotary engines, they were not exclusive and also built piston engines.  After the Arab Oil Embargo and the 1970’s fuel crisis, Mazda decided that their rotary engines should be reserved for their lightweight sports cars such as the RX-7.  At the same time, they developed another lightweight sports car, albeit, with a piston engine.  This became the Mazda Roadster, otherwise known as the MX-5 Miata.  This little car was responsible for resurrecting the small compact sports car after the decline of the AC Cobra, Alpine A110, Alfa Romeo Spider, and Toyota Sports 800.  Mazda’s motorsports background, plus their history of innovative engineering, led to the creations of fuel-efficient passenger vehicles and family cars built with the same spirit as their performance Mazdaspeed line.  Current models include the Mazda3 compact car, Mazda6 midsize family sedan, CX-5 compact crossover, CX-9 full-size SUV, and the famous MX-5 Miata.
