Alternators for Mini Automobiles

At the turn of the new millennium, a group comprised of 126 of the world’s leading auto experts  called the Global Automotive Elections Foundation named the two most influential cars of the 20th century: the Ford Model T and the Mini.  The Mini is a subcompact economy city car made by England’s British Motor Corporation.  It is an icon of British pop culture (fans of Rowan Atkinson’s Mr. Bean character will recognize his lime green 1976 British Leyland Mini 1000) and throughout different generations and a great many ownership changes, the original Mini forever revolutionized car production namely, in the design and engineering of modern front-wheel drive cars. By mounting the engine transversely and incorporating the use of a transaxle, this method saved valuable passenger and cargo space for such a small car.  In addition to being a trendsetting, fuel-efficient city car, the Mini was also a potent little contender in international rally races.  The Mini had shuffled from automaker to automaker in England; from Morris Motors to Austin, BMC to British Leyland, Rover Group and to its current owner, Germany’s BMW.  In 1994, BMW acquired Rover and while they sold off most of the company in 2000, they kept the rights to the Mini design and trademarks for themselves.  The new generation of Mini cars were released by BMW in 2001.  These included the One, Cooper, Cooper S, and the top-end John Cooper Works (JCW).  The first crop of Minis were all hardtop hatchback cars and as retro-themed designs such as Chrysler’s PT Cruiser and the 5th generation Ford Mustang were all the rage in the 2000s, the new BMW-made Minis retained many of their trademark physical and visual cues, but technologically updated for the modern age.  A convertible/cabrio was added in 2008 and, in later years, a small crossover SUV and a sporty roadster.
